Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny sleepy town. The West Island can be confusing for those who aren't familiar with its meaning. They often believe it's an island to the west of Montreal however it's actually the West Island encompasses everything between the two cities that are Lachine as well as West. Many times, it is credited as the location of birth of Amanda Brugel but while that may be true, her time in the city was brief. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa Ontario. The first goal she had was to become a dancer, however a rapid growth rate led to her growing beyond the dancers she was with. An article in the Toronto Star article revealed she's six feet tall, with heels. Once I surpassed my male counterparts and stopped dancing, I quit. Some former dancers switch to acting, and in the case of Brugel, it was the nudge of a high school drama teacher that encouraged her to go in that direction. Teacher who recommended she try getting a part in the school's annual play. Following a trial, she ended up as the main character in Anne of Green Gables. When she was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. Since then, she's appeared in over 60 productions both smaller and large. Most notable was when she landed the role of Rita in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was only seen on a few moments in the very first season of the show The Handmaid's Tale. The only Canadian actor.
